Control of flange joints is an important aspect of maintenance on all plants. The Health and Safety Executive recognise the importance in their guidance note 2/2000 which makes recommendations in regard to safe control of flange joints. Novus Sealing run a number of training courses aimed at improving understanding and implementation of gasket technology, joint integrity and environmental compliance. The courses cover a broad spectrum of topics which can be tailored to suit requirements including:

• Gasket manufacture and technology
• Software aided Gasket selection and installation
• Joint preparation and assembly
• Environmental compliance
• Controlling fugitive emissions

Our training program “Control of Flanged Joints in the Chemical Industry” is designed to ensure that all individuals with responsibilities in connection with ensuring the safe control of flange joints are trained and validated as competent to undertake these responsibilities. The program is based around a video presentation of best practices produced in conjunction with Huntsman Petrochemicals and Heldey Purvice Limited.

The training material is split into a number of sections, each of which contains:

• A video presentation
• An explanation of best practises
• A discussion of key points
• Validation Questions

This training material is designed to provide competence in ensuring control of flange joints in accordance with best practice.
